11f; POLLY WHITE; Thursday 7/13 Pueblo in Cottonwood Bark
Pueblo in Cottonwood Bark, 1-day class (TH)
Polly White (a member of the Colorado Carvers Club) has been carving almost 20 years. She began teaching classes for her Colorado club about eight years ago and expanded to teach and encourage non-carvers at the Coyote Creek Gallery in Fairplay, Colorado. She’s been attending and taking classes at the Rendezvous since 2009 and began teaching here about five years ago. Carving “found” wood and introducing new carvers to the art is one of her favorite activities.
On Thursday, she will instruct how to carve a Pueblo in cottonwood bark. Students will carve a multi-level Pueblo village in bark complete with Kivas, ovens, ladders, and structural poles (vigas). Turquoise inlay optional.
The full 1-day class fee of $55 is due at time of registration. Cost of the cottonwood bark, $12, is payable to Polly on the day of the class.
This is open to carvers of all skill levels.
Number of students for the Pueblo: 3 minimum and 12 maximum
Tools needed: Bench knife; variety of gouges, v-tools and chisels.
