Fairy Tale Cottage or Mushroom House
On Monday and Tuesday, the Mayer brothers will work together to teach students to carve a Fairy Tale Cottage or Mushroom House created out of cottonwood bark that has been melded to weathered wood to create a unique base. Students will learn the basics of how to carve an in-the-round house, and then “meld” it to a burl or knot that will serve as a base for the cottage.
The full class fee of $100 is due at time of registration. Cost of the cottonwood bark and base, $20, is payable to them on the day of the class.
Number of students: 5 minimum and 12 maximum.
This is open to carvers of all skill levels.
Tools needed: Carving knife; small V-tool; #1 chisel 1/8” #7 U-gouge; pin vice with small drill bits; needle file set (which may be purchased from the instructor).
