Andy will teach students how to carve a realistic church from cottonwood bark that has been cut out to the basic shape of a church (approximately 2”x 5”). The students will use basic tools as well as learn new and different techniques for achieving detail using files. They will be able to create their own customized details using ideas from pictures of churches that will be provided.
Fee: The full 2-day class fee of $100 is due at time of registration. Cost of the blank, $20, will be payable to Andy on the day of the class.
Number of students: 4 minimum and 8 maximum. This is open to carvers of intermediate and advanced skill levels. No beginners.
Tools needed: Carving knife; 3/32” v-tool; #1-1/8” and 1/4” chisels; #7-5/8” u-gouge; drafting compass; pin vice with small drill bits; ruler; large metal file; and a needle file set (which may be purchased from Andy)
