VIC HOOD; Realistic Human Bust; 5-day class,
7a-e, SA 7/13-WE 7/17
Vic Hood is an award-winning realistic human bust carver. He has won top awards in various competitions throughout the country including BEST OF SHOW at the largest competitions in the United States. He is the author of three books on carving and was Woodcarving Illustrated’s Carver of the Year in 2011.
Vic is teaching a human bust class designed to encourage the students to create their own piece of art. There will be a strong emphasis on design, creativity, and technical execution. The structure of the class allows for beginners as well as accomplished carvers. There will be several models available for the students to help inspire them and give direction or ideas. Photos for reference should be brought to the class by the students. This is not a portraiture class. Portraits of specific individuals take too much time therefore the carving should be subject based, e.g., American Indian, civil war soldier, etc.
The cost of the 5-day class fee of $350 is due at time of registration. Cost of the blank, about $65, will be payable to Vic on the day of the class.
Number of students: 6 minimum, 10 maximum.
This is open to carvers of all skill levels.
Tools needed: Mallet tools. Vic will have necessary tools if you do not have them. He will also provide holding devices.
Questions may be directed to Vic at [email protected], or calling him at 615-533-1434.
