Happy 2023 to you all!
It’s 173 days until July 8th and I have the wonderful mountain air and sun on my face! It’s not like I’m counting down the days or anything (wink, wink) …. It’s just that as I write this it is a balmy 30 degrees where I live in Minnesota and the winters get VERY long and to be honest, I am already sick of it and ready for Spring.
To get through Winter I just think about my time in Creede, CO which is one of the most beautiful spots! To me, attending the Rendezvous in this location is worth the price of admission. I had some friends attend last year from Bismarck, ND and they were also equally enamored with the location and said, “This is the most beautiful place we have ever taken a woodcarving class at.” So, if you’ve not been to Creede yet, seriously you’re missing out!
The Directors of the Rendezvous have been busy getting things ready for the event this year and I must say we have a great line up of classes for you this year. We have just shy of 20 instructors this year. New instructors, new classes and your favorite instructors with a few new class offerings as well! I think you’re going to be pleased with the list. The hardest part is going to be deciding which class to take!
Once again, we will be doing our banquet at the Old School gym. Last year our tickets sold out, so make sure you get your tickets early because the food is AWESOME! It will be catered once again by Big Doug’s BBQ and dessert by Bristol Head bakery, both local to Creede. New menu items this year to shake things up from last year, but it is guaranteed to be “good eatin’!”
We also have some new merchandise on the website, and make sure to add a sweatshirt or vest (or both!) to your order. It gets a bit nippy in the mountains in the morning and layers are good!
Also, a friendly reminder for those not used to being in higher altitudes …. Make sure to drink water, get some Acli-Mate if you have problems adjusting to the altitude and drink that a few days before you get there. It truly helps.
I am looking forward to seeing you all in July! As always, if there is anything that we can do to make your visit to Creede more enjoyable, please reach out to me or any of the Directors listed on our website. Any one of us will help, it’s what we are here for, and we want you to have the best time when you come to Creede.
Best Wishes to you for 2023!
