Double Bore Drone Native American Flute
This 2 day class is designed to teach you how to make a beautiful DRONE Native American Flute (NAF). The Drone Flute is a double bore Native American Flute that has intrigued many on how it's played and made. There is not a lot of information out there on how a Drone Flute is made and this class is one of our most requested, and fills fast. We will start on day one with a short lecture on the anatomy of the NAF and how it makes sound. We will quickly progress into how to install the cutting edge and shape the windway to produce an amazing haunting flute sound. We will continue with preparation of the main flute chamber and how to properly glue and assemble the flute blank for shaping. Day 2 -- We start early on shaping our flutes using a spoke shaver and or a plane. We will spend some time talking about and illustrating what makes the Drone Flute so unique and how it makes sound. Once shaped we will start installing the playing holes and tuning BOTH flute chambers. Finally we will sum up our two day class with a brief introduction on playing the Native American Flute. We pace our classes where each student will have time to ask questions and have personal attention from our Instructor. Each student will build a complete working and playable Native American Flute, and at the end of your two days will go home with a flute that you can keep for generations. Drone flutes have a large amount of surface area and are well suited for carving and painting on. We will spend some time during class talking and reviewing various Fine Art Flutes, where you can get ideas on how you would like to embellish your flute. Bonus section of the class: We will reserve some time during class to talk about hos to sell and make money building Native American Flutes. For those of you that would like to understand more about how and where you can sell these beautiful works of art, we will be talking about pricing and proper venues for selling your flutes.
