Combining Branding and Texturing
In this half day, afternoon class, students will learn ways of combining branding with texturing to create visually interesting designs for use on platters, gourds, vessels, lazy Susan, etc. Students will have the opportunity to create a piece of art using techniques learned in both morning and afternoon sessions. Tools: Foredom flexshaft or similar with hand pieces, (Instructor has several to loan), or micro-motor machine, burrs will be provided, dust collector, dust mask, light and extension cord, plus woodburner and pens with replaceable tips. (Fixed tip pens won't work) some pens will be available for students to use during class. Burr shafts used are 1/16 for piercing and very fine detail work; 3/32 for cup burrs, cutters, stump burrs, some diamonds; 1/8 for carving, texturing, inlay work; 1/4 for hogging out details, deep texturing, sanding.
