Stone Carving (B/I)
Loren will be teaching the art of Stone Carving using only hand tools. Alabaster, Marble and Soapstone are available for the students to carve. Student will complete a small “stylized” animal carving of a Turtle, Bear or Buffalo. Participants can expect to complete the project in two or three days, depending on which animal is chosen, the Turtle being the most simple and the Bear requiring the most time. The hardness of the stone and the size of the project will also impact the time to complete the project. The students will also have the opportunity to try hammer and chisel on a larger stone. The classes will be held outside and the instructor will supply all of the tools needed for the class. To see some of Loren’s work go to http://www.lorenlichtifineart.com/ . Beginning students are encouraged to start with a Bear or Buffalo for their first carving. Loren has been a stone carver for thirty five years and is confident that if you love carving wood you will love stone carving. If you have questions you can contact Loren at firstname.lastname@example.org. Tools are provided, each student is required to bring a small plastic container with a snap on lid to store the stone polish. Cost is $50 per day and the stone is $35 to $65, Max 8 and Min 2.
