An Adventure in Kachinas
Students will have a choice of three or four different cut outs to purchase, all done out of Bass Wood with finished go-bys to work from. Most offerings should be able to be completed in three or four days assuming intermediate carving skills. Painting of projects will be subject to time availability. The instructor will provide the paints, brushes, and sealers. Bases for the kachinas will not be provided by the instructor. Alan will be sharing basic information about the Hopi Culture and Lifestyle along with carving instruction. The class size will be minimum 5 students and maximum 10 students at intermediate skill level.
Tools required: Your basic knives and gouges all sharpened and ready to go, a carving glove, divider, ruler, pencil and sanding mesh; access to a woodburner would be beneficial.
Cost is $35. The $25 deposit for the class is applied toward the cost of the class. The remainder of the fees are due to the instructor at the start of class.
