The students will experience the methods of relief woodblock printmaking in this introductory class. Techniques covered include transfer, carving reverse imagery, registration and printing. On day one, students will carve their woodblock. Focus will be on imagery, layout, design and carving. Carving techniques will be taught, and students will be shown examples of texture, incorporating wood grain, and safety in carving one's block.
On day two we will cover inking and printing. Methods of printing will be discussed.
The fee for this class is $75 and $20 supply fee.
Required tools: a V-tool and a couple of gouges.
